On the first days of practice for Ray’s high school baseball and softball teams each year, usually the temperature is too cold or the field too wet -- or both -- for practice to take place outdoors.
This year was no exception, so the coaches lined a makeshift diamond inside the gymnasium.
“The nice thing about our gym is that we can set up 60-foot bases and work on infield stuff,” head softball coach Matt Ray said Thursday. “The outfield is drying up, so we can go outside soon.”
Both teams are looking to have the best season in their young history this year.
