The Tioga football team is looking to make a turnaround from a 1-6 season last year that ended a streak of two consecutive playoff berths.
Youth was largely to blame for those struggles, and head coach Tim Schaffer said he is seeing improvement across the board. It helps that none of his players graduated, so little is different about the roster besides much more varsity experience.
“I’m very happy with the way we’re working,” he said. “You can tell we’re a year older.”
But turnout is down, at 24, and Schaffer said one big need is for the team to develop more physical defenders.
