For more than a century, Zion Lutheran Church has existed at the corner of Main and Third in Tioga. That will soon change now that the congregation has broken ground on a new building on Tioga’s north side between the medical center and dam.
“The church is not a structural building, but a group of God’s people,” said longtime church- goer, Lori Olson. While the building will be new, the church will be the same.
Olson’s late husband, Larry, was instrumental before his passing in helping organize the congregation around the idea of creating a new home for Zion.
“His mission was to bring glory to God and make it easier for people to walk up the stairs,” she said. Both Olson and her late husband were baptized at Zion along with several other family members.
