Annual statistics on taxable sales and purchases for 2017 contain some indications the economy is picking up in some areas.
The release by the State Tax Department also includes figures for the fourth quarter of 2017, which ended in December.
Tioga recorded a 32 percent increase in 2017, while Ray saw a drop of 2 percent.
Overall, Williams County improved its taxable sales and purchases 25 percent over 2016, but nearby counties like Burke and Divide saw less dramatic changes.
