The City of Tioga this week is publishing a notice of special election, to be held Tuesday, Nov. 6, in conjunction with the General Election in Williams County.
City posts that must be filled will be two city commissioners and three park board members, all for four year terms.
The special election came about as a result of erroneous instructions published on ballots in the city’s June 12 election.
Instead of being instructed to vote for two commissioners and three park board positions, voters were advised to enter one vote in the city commission race and only two votes in the park board race, potentially impacting the outcome of write-in races. After consultation with the county auditor, city attorney and the attorney general’s office, the special election was deemed the best route for rectifying the error.
