With three candidates vying for two seats on the Tioga School Board, the Tribune asked each candidate to return written answers to a series of questions. The candidates' answers, in alphabetical order, follow.
Q: Why did you decide to run for school board at this time?
Gail Joyce: I have been on the school board for the last 10 years now. I would like to continue to work and advocate for the education of all the children in our community.
Abby Salinas: I value Tioga’s educational standards and would like to be a part of further improving the schools learning environment for both students and staff.
Mark Schmidt: I have served on the Tioga Public School board for three terms, starting in 2009. I originally ran for the position because I believe that community service is everyone’s responsibility. I thoroughly enjoy working with the current administration and staff, and doing my part to educate and train our kids. I have served the board as president for the past six years.
