Department of Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms said the Williston Basin could be in for a “second wind” in 2018 as oil production continues to push toward record breaking numbers.
“North Dakota has the potential to hit 2 million barrels per day,” said Helms. “How long, is up to prices. We’re definitely back into growth mode.”
Production continued to climb towards the record 1.2 million barrels per day mark in November, the most recent data available.
Helms said the region is on track to break the all time high record from December 2014.
