Westby earned a sweep of Crosby, 20-2 and 28-8, in an 18U softball doubleheader June 16.
“Our roster was basically our 12U roster with the addition of one 16-year-old and one 14-year-old,” coach Bob Gillen said. “Westby was obviously bigger and older than our team, but the staff was proud of the girls for competing and not worrying about the scoreboard.”
Offensive leaders for Crosby were Autumn Ballew with six hits and Sierra Grote with five RBIs.
Crosby 18U opened the season on June 9 with a doubleheader loss to Medicine Lake, 12-5 and 13-6. Grote went 5-for-7, including two doubles and two RBIs in the doubleheader. Makenzie Olson drove in four runs off three hits on the day.
The Crosby 12U team, meanwhile, earned a 10-1, 11-5 sweep over Medicine Lake. Ally Grote homered twice, and Shyann Ballew added another.
The 12U team travels to Kenmare on Thursday.
