MonDak wins volleyball tourney, football playoff

In the District 1C volleyball championship final Saturday, MonDak swept host Plentywood in three sets, 25-19, 25-15, 25-12.
The Thunder advance to the divisional tournament, which begins Thursday in Sidney.
MonDak hit 24 kills in the title match while limiting the Wildcats to 17 kills.
Bailey Peterson dished out a match-high 17 assists to go along with two aces for the Thunder, and Fallon Garman blocked four shots.
The football team overwhelmed Custer-Hysham 67-16 Saturday in Grenora in its Montana state six-man playoff opener. Brian Field, Daulton Holecek and Cade Guenther each caught TD passes from Jeremiah Paine.
MonDak (9-1), the east division’s No. 1 seed, will play the north division’s No. 2 seed Geraldine-Highwood Rivals on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT in Grenora. It’s a rematch of the 2014 state title game that Geraldine-Highwood won 37-20.
