Alli McCoy earned fourth place in the girls’ 200-meter dash and fifth in the 100 during the second day of the 2015 NDHSAA Class B Track and Field State Meet at the Bismarck Community Bowl on Saturday. McCoy earned nine points for the team, which tied for 20th.
“Our kids did very well,” Divide County head coach Nate Nelson said. “Alli keeps setting the standard higher and higher for herself. We are all very proud of her accomplishments.”
McCoy placed fourth in the 200-meter finals with a school-record time of 26.22 seconds.
She didn’t finish quite as high in the 100-meter final, placing fifth with a time of 12.82 seconds, but in her preliminary heat she set a school record of 12.68.
McCoy placed 11th in the 100 and 13th in the 200 last season.
The Maroons began the meet with senior Cain Stewart competing in the boys’ long jump. Stewart finished 20th with a jump of 18-4.5.
The girls’ 4x100-meter relay team of McCoy, eighth-grader Lauryn Heide, junior Emilee Johnson and freshman McKenzie Hallgren took 20th with their fastest time of the year, 54.63.
“Much will be expected of those four girls as all return for next season,” Nelson said.
Another local athlete who placed was Atati Mita of Williams County, who placed third in the boys’ discus throw and fourth in the javelin throw.
