Last week’s adult co-ed softball game between Ambrose and Fortuna wasn’t memorable because of the score, but rather, for where it was played.
For only the second time in nearly 13 years, the crack of the bat could be heard in Fortuna.
“They quit playing here around 2005,” Fortuna resident Jordan Olson said.
A combination of pretty serious player injuries and the waning of the league for a time are a few of the reasons the Fortuna Hoppers stopped playing at home, but Olson said the softball field on the northeast side of town was like a second home when he was a kid.
