The Divide County School District’s decision to merge its varsity and junior varsity boys’ basketball teams in the 2017-18 season has tipped off an intense conversation -- in some corners more than others.
“It’s been a big discussion from people in the community,” varsity head coach Rodney Johnson said -- much bigger than the discussion from people involved in the program.
“I don’t know, now that the season’s over, if there will be more questions from players and parents,” he said, “but the community has been the biggest ones with wanting answers.”
DC School Board vice-president Steve Feil said nobody has reached out to him about the team in the two weeks since the board’s action.
