Crosby native Stan Anderson remained hospitalized Monday, but in good spirits, following an accident in which he was ejected from a horse-drawn carriage he was trying to get under control.
Anderson had two days left on his summer job -- giving rides to Medora tourists. He was about to start his afternoon shift Thursday when he faced a split-second decision he is now second-guessing.
Having gone into the horse shed to retrieve his cell phone, his young team of Fjord horses were making a commotion and about to bolt.
“All I could think of was, ‘Run and jump on,’ and that’s all I remember,” he says, other than briefly regaining conciousness when an ambulance arrived. He was then airlifted to a Bismarck hospital with a broken and skinned-up hand, facial lacerations and a concussion.
