Ireland Watterud said people generating and spreading fake news are dishonest.
“They’re trying to be fictional, rather than factual,” she said.
Watterud, a seventh-grader at Divide County High School, is one of 35 students who sat through a presentation last week about “fake news,” presented by Cecile Wehrman, publisher of The Journal, Crosby.
“Educating the next generation of citizens about the importance of responsible sharing of news is probably the most important use of my time as a newspaper publisher,” she said.
