Furnace foul-up closes Divide schools

An unexpected day off. That’s what Divide County High School students woke up to Monday morning.

Sunday night saw the parking lot filled with firefighters and sheriff’s deputies responding to alarms because of a furnace malfunction.

High school principal Nick Ator said a staff member entering the building heard the fire alarm, exited and flagged down a passing deputy who called the fire department.

“We’re very lucky,” he said.
