School enrollment at Divide County and neighboring districts along ND 5 is lower than a year ago, while communities further south are on an upward trend.
Tioga, Ray, Powers Lake and Grenora all reported having more students in their buildings at the beginning of the new school year last week, in comparison to fall 2017.
Tioga is up 14 from a year ago, at 452 students, which is still under its most recent peak of 494 at the start of 2014.
“I think things have picked up a little bit,” Superintendent Carolyn Eide said. “I’ve seen more cars at the motels and at Cash Wise. I’m just guessing, though.”
