Selmer Clifford Myren was born July 9, 1930, in Cando, to Louis and Dena (Bakken) Myren. He attended school in Leeds, through eighth grade then began working with his dad in road construction.
For many years he worked in various aspects of road construction, including driving his own gravel truck, and operating other heavy equipment.
On September 19, 1959, he married Vivian Ness and together they raised three children in Tioga.
He was employed by Amerada/ Amerada Hess for 30+ years mainly operating the company’s road grader, building and maintaining roads and locations in the oil field. After retiring from Amerada Hess he bought his own road grader and became self-employed as Myren’s Blading service with Vivian as the bookkeeper.
Selmer was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Tioga.
As a family there were many camping trips and vacations to the mountains, west coast and Alaska. Together Selmer and Vivian enjoyed “landscaping” their country yard and took great pride in creating their own little “park”. Vivian died in 2010, and although most of the traveling stopped Selmer continued living in the country and keeping up the yard until the age of 89. He loved cutting grass!
Selmer was soft spoken, but loved to tease. He was a kind and caring person and loved spending time with his family. He truly felt blessed anytime his grandchildren or great grandchildren were around.
Selmer’s loving family includes Clifford Myren, Debbie (Lorin) Weisz, and Bonnie Myren; grandchildren Jennifer (Robert) James, Amber Myren, Justin (Chelsy) Weisz, Erin (Andrew) Mondry; great grandchildren, Serena, Matthew, Bradley, Jaden, Kiandra, Skyler, Kenzie, Grayson, and baby Mondry coming in April. As well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
He is preceded in death by wife, Vivian; parents, Dena and Louis Myren; brother, LeRoy Myren and infant son, Duane.
Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home, Tioga is assisting the family. Condolences may be left on our funeral home website at www.fulkersons.com.
