Loren Joseph Rodvold 79, Eden Prairie, Minnesota, formerly of Bloomington, Minnesota, originally from Fortuna, passed away suddenly on December 9, 2021.
Loren’s family will postpone his memorial service to later in the year. Loren was always so aware of the dangers of Covid, and wanted people to stay safe and not to place additional burden on the amazing healthcare workers, including those who took such good care of him in his last days. He would not have wanted to put anyone in harm’s way.
Loren grew up in Fortuna, the second of six children. His character and work ethic blossomed working in the fields of North Dakota. He enlisted in the Army while still in high school and later started a career in sales, working for GE for 30 years, where he developed lifelong friendships.
Loren was known by his family, friends, and neighbors as a generous and caring person, always interested in their lives and looking out for their well-being. To his grandchildren he was papa, a loving grandfather; to his children he was both a role model and the best possible father; and to his wife he was her soulmate and lifelong best friend. He is dearly missed.
If you wish, the family requests donations in Loren’s name be made to MACV in support of homeless veterans (www.mac-v.org/donation-information/) or the International Institute of Minnesota’s appeal to support Afghan refugees (iimn.org/afghanistan/).
Survived by wife, Gaye; daughter Jennifer (David); son Patrick (Audrey); grandchildren Elliott and Layla; brothers Roger (Christine) and Stephen (Jeanine); sister, Charlene (John), and brothers-in-law, DeWayne Elliott and Lawrence Elliott.
Preceded in death by parents Melvin and Alice Rodvold; brother, Leslie; sister Beverley Allen; brother-in-law, Jerry Allen, and parents-in-law, Gordon and Elsie Elliott.
