The Ray football team suffered a 56-36 loss at Parshall on Friday night.
The Jays were without the services of junior quarterback Garrett Hodenfield, and senior lineman Robert Logan exited the game early in the first quarter with an injury.
“It was a tough game,” Ray head coach Steve Perdue said. “We needed to move several players around after already doing so earlier in the week. We played hard the entire game but need improvement, especially on the defensive side of the ball.”
Ray (0-2, 0-1 Region 6) started the scoring early with a 5-yard touchdown run from senior Waylen Hale. After that, the Braves (2-0, 1-0) would add three consecutive touchdowns to take a 24-6 advantage over the Jays.
Ray scored once more before halftime when sophomore Derek Hale ran in a 1-yard touchdown.
He scored three more times in the second half -- twice on foot, once in the air to junior Chad Weyrauch -- but Parshall had four second-half scores of its own.
On defense, Perdue said Waylen Hale, junior lineman Joe Brown and senior linebacker Kadan Olson stood out.
Ray returns home Friday vs. New Town. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
