The Ray High School volleyball team picked up its third win of the season with a 3-0 sweep of Tioga at Ray High School on Thursday night.
The win moved the Jays to 3-4 on the season, while the Pirates are 1-4. It was the first district match for both teams.
The Jays were impressive in taking the first two sets, 25-9 and 25-8. They went on to close out the match with a 25-16 win in the third.
Senior middle blocker Hayden Slikker led the Jays, totaling eight kills and a match-high five aces.
Junior Marissa Veach tied Slikker with eight kills and contributed four aces.
Junior Maari Dolan hit five kills, while sophomore Britne Viall added four kills and senior Allison Ziebarth added three and dished out 19 assists.
Defensively, Dolan notched a match-leading 10 digs.
Juli Christofferson led the Pirates with four kills. Nicole Postovit finished with four assists.
Junior Tayla Dean ended the night with a team-high seven digs, while Leah Schmidt came up with three digs.
Ray is in action at home Thursday night at 7 p.m. against Divide County. On Tuesday, the Jays host Des Lacs-Burlington at 7 p.m.
Tioga played Tuesday at Watford City and continues road play against Stanley on Thursday and Divide County next Tuesday.
