Carsen Canfield (182) won an individual title for the Williams County wrestling team in an invitational at Kenmare on Friday.
Four additional Firestorm wrestlers placed in the tournament, including Ethan Wonser and Jaryn Rasmussen, who respectively took runner-up honors at 106 and 285 pounds. Ethan Fuson, also at 106, took third, while Reed Neset (170) finished sixth.
Canfield tallied three pins on his way to the 182-pound crown: in 1:49 in the quarterfinals over Velva’s Graydon Olson; in 19 seconds in the semifinals over Grafton’s Gianni Muhale; and in 27 seconds in the finals over Stanley’s Colton Rudolph.
Wonser pinned Stanley’s Dawson Sessing in 1:54, Des Lacs-Burlington’s Grayson Pease in 2:54 and MonDak’s Raymond Boelter in 3:10 before dropping the championship match in 2:16 to Stanley’s Cody Rudolph.
Rasmussen pinned Northern Lights’ Tristin Jeannotte in 29 seconds and claimed a 1-0 decision over Stanley’s Garrett Hoelscher, but lost 10-1 to Des Lacs-Burlington’s Austin Moen to take second place.
Fuson fell in 2:54 to Boelter, defeated Pease in 5:13 and Rugby’s Nathanial Johnson in 2:31 but succumbed in a rematch with Boelter in 3:39 in the third-place match.
Neset started with a pin of Stanley’s Carson Farhart in 3:04 but was unable to advance any further.
Dylan Tabbert finished 1-2 at 106 pounds, his win a 33-second pin of Sessing.
Manny Morales (285) and Hugo Garcia (132) also wrestled for Williams County and both finished 0-2.
The Firestorm attend a meet this weekend in Dickinson.
