The Ray baseball team fell to the MLS-Glenburn-Kenmare-Bowbells Muskrats, 3-2, on Thursday afternoon in Ray.
Trevor Hayes (0-1) allowed two runs on five hits with three strikeouts in six innings.
MLSGKB got on the board first in the fourth inning on a two-out RBI single. Ray (0-3, 0-2 Region 7) responded in the bottom half of the fourth to pull even. Hodenfield was hit with a pitch, and Hayes batted him in.
The Muskrats got that run back in the sixth -- Hayes hit a batter who later scored -- and added another in the seventh.
The Jays threatened in the bottom of the seventh when Hayes, Kadan Olson and Brock Viall loaded the bases with one out. Lane Veach then popped out, and Hayes stole home to get within one run before Hatley Nelson grounded out.
Ray falls 10-5 at DLB
Ray was defeated 10-5 by Des Lacs-Burlington on April 5 at Burlington. The Lakers scored six runs in the second inning and three in the sixth inning.
Bunker Hill batted in Chad Weyrauch four times in the game.
After Hill singled Weyrauch home in the top of the first, DLB opened the bottom of the second with back-to-back doubles to tie the game. Another RBI double, two RBI singles and two steals of home made it 6-1.
Hill again singled and scored Weyrauch for a 6-2 score in the third. In the fifth, Viall singled and came home on Weyrauch’s double. Hill scored Weyrauch again for a 6-4 deficit.
DLB loaded the bases with a single, hit by pitch and walk in the bottom of the fifth. A sacrifice fly made it 7-4. The Lakers added three runs in the sixth.
With one out in the seventh, Hill again plated Weyrauch, and the Jays loaded the bases before back-to-back strikeouts.
Hodenfield (0-1) went 4 1/3 innings and allowed seven runs on 10 hits, along with four strikeouts. Weyrauch worked an inning and two-thirds with three runs allowed on four hits.
A Ray road trip began Tuesday at Watford City and continues Thursday in Makoti and Monday next week at Stanley.
