Tioga Senior Citizens Center provides meals and social contact for residents

A quiet, unassuming building houses a flurry of activities at least two days a week.

The Tioga Senior Citizens Center, located at 17 North Benson Street, has been serving the senior population of the Tioga community for more than 40 years.

Meals are served every Tuesday and Friday at noon. Head cook Linda Fifer has spent the last six years not only planning the meals, getting groceries, and cooking; but also comes in to bake desserts the day before, does laundry and cleaning projects.

Fifer started as a fill-in for Connie Anderson, a previous cook, who asked her to stay on full-time when Anderson decided to retire.
