Nearly 500 people volunteered Saturday to help pack 108,864 meals in the Ray school gymnasium -- enough food to feed 298 children for an entire year.
The “mobile pack” for Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) required the help of people from all over the northwest region -- from Crosby to Watford City, Williston to Minot, but was marshaled by a core group of churches -- Ray Lutheran Church, Epping Lutheran Church and First Lutheran and Trinity churches in Tioga.
People from many more congregations pitched in, including some from Grace Lutheran in Wildrose, including Rev. Emily Shipman, who volunteered for three previous packing missions as a youngster.
“It connects you to people experiencing hunger,” says Shipman.
