Former officer named in Lopez case speaks out following trial accusations

A couple of former Tioga police employees cast in a recent trial as potential suspects in the misappropriation of police funds last week spoke to the Tribune about the accusations.


Former Lt. Sean Duisen and former police administrator Jeff Spivey both were named in the defense of Monique Lopez, the former officer accused of diverting funds to her bank account. Lopez was acquitted by a jury in Williams County earlier this month.


Duisen approached the Tribune two weeks ago to give his side of the story.


He said he understands the need for Defense Attorney Tom Slorby to prove Lopez’s innocence, but he was still surprised to see his name come up in relation to the trial.
