The MonDak Thunder pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Lone Peak 54-24 in their season opener Friday.
Jeremiah Paine threw for three touchdowns -- two of the scores coming in the fourth.
MonDak led only 27-24 at one point in the fourth quarter before finishing off Lone Peak.
Daulton Holecek hauled in all three of Paine’s TD passes: a 26-yarder in the third quarter, then a 55-yarder and a 65-yarder midway through the fourth.
Also in the final period, Paine kicked a 31-yard field goal and handed off to Cleve Garman on a 16-yard scoring play.
That was more than enough against Lone Peak, which was coming off a state quarterfinal appearance last season.
MonDak travels to Medicine Lake on Friday.
