The Divide County boys’ varsity golf team recently tallied finishes of fifth place in Des Lacs-Burlington on April 19 and seventh place in Stanley on April 22.
Isaac Ellingson led the Maroons in both outings, shooting an 85 at DLB and a 93 in Stanley.
Taylor Landsverk finished three strokes behind Ellingson at DLB, followed by Seth Haugland (105), Jarod Jeglum (110), Colton DeJardine (125) and Sam Johnson (130).
Haugland and Johnson respectively improved their scores in Stanley to 103 and 108, while Jeglum finished at 117.
“It was nice to see some of our young golfers shoot solid scores,” coach Lucas Schumacher said. “We are looking forward to working on our games at practice and seeing how we fare later this season.”
Tucker Svangstu led the junior high boys’ team in Stanley with a 118, followed by DeJardine (127), Grant Kocher (138) and Jacob Jeglum (144).
“Thirty-seven degrees at tee-off, overcast with a brisk north wind, showed our young golfers what spring golf in North Dakota is all about,” Schumacher said. “Lots of layers and frozen hands.”
Crosby Country Club will host the boys’ Northwest Conference meet on May 10.
