The Divide County boys’ golf team shot a 355 in Friday’s region tournament in Crosby to earn third place and secure a state championship berth.
The top three teams at the regional advanced to state, and Divide County rallied to claim the final spot over Des Lacs-Burlington (362).
Tioga (324) won the region, followed by Stanley (331) in second. Kenmare (364) finished fifth, followed by New Town-Parshall (380), Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood (420), Burke Central (428), Lewis and Clark (438) and Ray (469).
Isaac Ellingson shot a 42 in both rounds of nine and finished with a team-best 84 for 10th place individually. Seth Haugland finished at 89, with Taylor Landsverk and Sam Johnson following closely behind at 90 and 92, respectively.
The state Class B boys’ golf tournament is Tuesday and Wednesday next week at Jamestown Country Club.
Ellingson also led the Maroons with an 87 in a meet Monday last week in Kenmare, followed by Landsverk (109), Haugland (112) and Tucker Svangstu (132).
