Football shuts out Parshall

By Jody Michael
Divide County got its second win of the football season Friday, 38-0 at Parshall-White Shield.
“This was a great road win for us,” DC offensive coach Bob Brown said. “Parshall is a tough place to play, and they have some good athletes. We came ready to play and had a solid team effort.”
Aside from the high score, the Divide County defense proved particularly impressive as well in holding Parshall scoreless and forcing three turnovers, two sacks and seven tackles for loss.
“This is the first time we haven’t faced a spread offense, so it was nice to play our base package,” DC defensive coach Nate Nelson said. “The kids responded well and didn’t get fooled by the trickeration that Parshall likes to use.”
With the victory, DC improved to 2-2 (2-1 in Region 6).
The Maroons’ offense utilized eight ball-carriers for 335 yards on 36 carries for four touchdowns. Sophomore quarterback Dejuan Jenkins saw the most action, generating 207 yards and two scores on 13 carries.
“Our offensive line continues to get better in run-blocking and is opening up some nice holes,” Brown said. “The backs are making some great cuts and making themselves tough to tackle.”
Jenkins and Isaac Ellingson each added three pass completions, including a 25-yard touchdown from Jenkins to Troy Knudson, followed by Ellingson converting the two-point play.
Aidan Eriksmoen ran in a touchdown and two conversions, and Taylor Landsverk had one of each.
The Maroons battle New Town in Friday’s homecoming game.
“It is an exciting time of the season when homecoming comes around, and the players are looking forward to having a good week,” Brown said. “Fundamentals and execution will once again be the focus this week.”
