Jerry and Doris Stromstad won’t be with family this Thanksgiving, and that’s OK.
Instead, the rural Divide County couple will spend the day with strangers who, like Jerry, are recent organ transplant recipients.
Jerry, 57, received a liver in a 10-hour operation that began around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday last week and didn’t conclude until the following morning at 6 a.m.
With such surgeries typically lasting only three to five hours, Doris said there were some “pretty tense” moments that night.
