Allan Wehrman stands where native grass used to be, in a field northeast of Ambrose, where a pipeline carrying brine broke down.
“It leaked right over there,” he said, pointing to the south.
Brine is the byproduct of fracking for oil. It’s salt water with an extremely high concentration of sodium chloride, which is toxic to plants.
Two years ago the pipeline failed, damaging Wehrman’s land.
