The Crosby 2017 Celebration committee will be selling “Crosbyopoly” board games to help with fundraising efforts for the event slated for Aug. 4, 5 and 6, 2017.
The game will be similar to one of the most popular board games of all time, but will feature local businesses on the spaces. Businesses or organizations can buy spots on the board for $225. Businesses and organizations also have the opportunity to help sponsor the board as a signature line.
“It’s kind of fun to have a hometown board game,” said Community Development Director KayCee Lindsey, who is helping with planning the celebration and selling the board.
The committee plans to order 500 board games, according to Lindsey. They will be available for purchase starting in November and all proceeds will go to help with costs associated with Crosby’s 2017 Celebration “100 Years and Building.”
“It’s a good support for the project itself,” Lindsey said. “They’re all key businesses in the area so just to have their name on there, so in five or 10 years when people are pulling out their games,” they can look at the board and reflect on where the city was at the time.
The 2017 Celebration will mark 100 years since the Divide County Courthouse was first completed. Lindsey said the celebration will be a community effort, and the committee is currently looking for businesses and organizations to help plan and sponsor various events throughout the weekend.
