Unless someone’s breaking the law, there won’t be any fireworks set off at Skjermo Lake this Fourth of July. But they’re okay to light in Crosby.
That’s because Divide County Commissioners, in a special session June 28, passed a resolution banning open burning in the western half of the county.
“No trash fires, bonfires, or fireworks,” Emergency Manager Jody Gunlock said.
Any other fire must be enclosed. Meaning either in a pit, metal ring or other container to keep it from spreading.
