Comets stars play for scouts in Pittsburgh

Five Crosby Comets Junior Gold hockey players and coach Travis Ames were in Pittsburgh last weekend to participate in “America’s Showcase,” an annual event for “all-star” high school hockey players from around the country to compete against each other in front of college and junior-league scouts. Will Landsverk, Jarret Obenchain, Evan Eriksmoen, Chase Jacobson and Taylor Elsbernd were on Team North Dakota, which consisted of 20 players from the Comets and their opponents in the North Dakota Amateur Hockey Association.

DC track season gets under way in Tioga

Alli McCoy’s victory in the girls 100-meter was the best finish for the Divide County track and field teams in their first meet of the season Thursday against six other teams in Tioga. McCoy edged out Hailee Depute of Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood by two-tenths of a second for first place. But Depute had the upper hand in the 200, as McCoy finished four-tenths behind for second place, and in the long jump, as Depute bested McCoy’s third-place leap of 13-7.5 by about two feet.
